romance to the grave

I'm back! And I know everything there is to know about life because I've been married for a week, so let me know if you need advice or anything.

The wedding and receptions and honeymoon were all lovely...it's great to feel so satisfied about the last week and a half of events and to have such amazing people in my life who made it all possible. I'm going to really revel in some gratuitous wedding recap posts soon, but until then, we got these couple of photos early from our photographer.

And in case the internet didn't get enough of a blitz from Cliffords who posted all over Facebook...get ready for round two on my blog!

PS - Our photographer was the delightful and talented Mark Owens

all the years

This was me last night when I got into my car after a hair appointment:

I thought it was a good way to sum up how my brain is these last few days. It's been a lot of fun planning the party part of getting married, but you know how you run around a little crazy before a big event? Lots of little things to do and lots of things to not forget means I might get moody and I might drink a lot of soda. The awesome thing is that at the end of it all, not only will I have had a really great day, but also I get to be married to Aaron.

I will not be posting for the next week or so, so have a good one dear internet. But if you are in Salt Lake this weekend please come to our reception because it will be a lot of fun and I have done way more primping for this thing than at any other point in my life so I will look really awesome.

colors and the kids

I have mentioned many times before that I am marrying a part teenager, but it becomes most apparent around his birthday (see, Aaron's birthday party last year).

So Aaron's birthday is tomorrow, but since we are getting married this weekend and all, we celebrated last Friday with a Boondock's Fun Center birthday package. For $20 a person, each attendee got 3 slices of pizza, FREE SODA, 20 tokens for the arcade, free admission to the 4D ride, and 3 hours of unlimited play. So clearly, a great deal for your 8 year old or your 28 year old!

The evening pretty much went as follows:

birthday boys

pizza time

wrist band excitement

basketball

bumper boats

laser tag

go karts

so many tickets

prize shopping

candy reward!

Turns out being a kid is awesome sometimes, so a very happy birthday to my grown up kid Aaron!

beautiful beat

I talk about how adorable Morgan is all the time, but as a whole, this family kind of kills it too. Right?

And Danny too!

bedshaped

I am in love with my bed. I love falling asleep in it. I love waking up in it. I miss it when I'm on vacation. I even occasionally chose it over social engagements because I just love it so much.

You see, five years ago I was moving into a new apartment bedroom with enough space for a bed bigger than the twin I'd had for years. My mom found this frame in a local consignment shop, painted brown and in desperate need of some work, and gave it to me as my first grown up sized bed. With a vision in my head I bought supplies and I sanded and sanded and I painted and painted. And to my surprise and delight, it turned out exactly as I had hoped. I loved the color, I loved the worn finish and I loved that I did it. And when the mattress and sheets and comforter were added, it felt incredibly satisfying to look at, and then sleep in, something I had so invested in making.

And I've loved our 5 years together since. It's been in 3 great apartments with me and the spot for countless late night roommate and friend conversations and sister sleepovers. It's where I want to nap after a long run, and where I want to retreat to after a crappy day, and where I want to unwind after a great party.

But this past weekend, my bed left me. It isn't big enough for Aaron and me both, and we are a move or two away from a home with space enough for a whole extra bed, so it will welcome visitors at Christopher and Tasha's house until then. And in the grand scheme of things to whine about, getting rid of a bed because I need a bigger one to share with a boy is not something that warrants any sympathy.

So I am not complaining. But on Saturday as I was washing sheet sets to send along with the bed I did think about how obviously it marks the end of something. Because really more than any other thing I own, our time together encompasses almost all of my really, really fun adult singleness and independence.

I mean, the great thing is that I am more in love with Aaron than I am with my bed, so it's a pretty easy trade out. But I'll still look forward to the day it maybe gets to live under the same roof as me again and I can occasionally curl up for a nap.

pictures of success

These pictures pose a few questions:

1. Why don't I play with Photo Booth more often?
2. Why is Morgan so effin cute?
3. Why do Elizabeth and I look like drunkards?
